About This Commodity
Institutional memberships in organizations which provide educational or professional service of value to the institution or to one or more of its component parts are allowed to be paid with University funds.
Campus and/or the System Chief Financial Officer must approve institutional memberships prior to acquisition to avoid duplication. Individual memberships in professional societies and associations that relate to the individual's job and support the mission of the university are allowable. It is not appropriate for University funds to be used to pay individual personal membership dues in social, service or civic clubs.
Payment and Processing Methods
- Once the appropriate approval has been obtained, and if the payment is less than $5000, the University OneCard can be used for payment.
- If the cost is over $5,000 a PeopleSoft Non-Catalog requisition can be entered and a purchase order processed by UM Procurement.
- If there is no value in issuing a purchase order, a payment request can be submitted for Accounts Payable to process.
- Documents requiring a signature or with terms and conditions MUST be attached to a PeopleSoft Non-Catalog requisition and submitted to a Sourcing Contact for signature PRIOR to payment being issued. Signatures by an individual department are prohibited.
